The answer

The second wife's attempt to separate the spouses is a grave evil and corruption on Earth. The Prophet forbade a woman from asking for her sister's divorce, so how much worse is it to strive for that and use magic? The divorced woman and her child have rights over the husband, and it is forbidden for the husband to neglect them, especially the child's right to education and guidance. The matter can be brought before a Sharia judge, and the wife can demand maintenance during her 'iddah (waiting period) and for her daughter. What happened should not be an excuse to undermine lawful polygyny, for it contains many wisdoms, and Allah permitted it despite His knowledge of women's jealousy, on condition of justice. Instead of dwelling on the past, one should resume life and pray to Allah for a righteous husband. The term "marital betrayal" must be understood correctly, and the story of Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, is not proof of the prohibition of permissible polygyny.
