Is it permissible to divorce a wife if the cause of her problems with her husband is sorcery, knowing that the wife is overcome by it?

It is not advisable to divorce one's wife; rather, one should hold onto her, treat her with kindness, and be patient with her, especially if her actions are under the influence of magic (sihr). It is recommended to maintain obedience to Allah, consistently perform ruqyah (Islamic exorcism), and consult with scholars specialized in ruqyah.

As for the wife's family, it is not permissible to accuse them except with clear evidence, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever says something about a believer that is not true, Allah will make him dwell in the mire of evil (radghat al-khabal) until he recants what he said, and he will not be able to recant." However, if it is established with certainty or strong presumption that they are causing harm, then it is permissible to prevent them from visiting and to prevent the wife from visiting them, as Al-Mardawi said: "The correct view on this is that if it is known by circumstantial evidence that harm will occur from their visit or the visit of one of them, then he has the right to prevent it; otherwise, not." To avoid severing kinship ties, the wife can communicate with them by phone or similar means.
