The word "Al-Masih" (the Messiah) is of the form "fa'il" from "maf'ul," and it is applied to 'Isa ibn Maryam (Jesus, son of Mary), peace be upon him, and to the Dajjal (the Antichrist). The Dajjal was called "Masih" either because he traverses the earth (massaha al-ard) or because he is one-eyed (mamsuh al-ain al-wahidah). The term "Al-Masih" for 'Isa and the Dajjal is one and the same according to scholars and linguists, and anything other than that is incorrect.
