What is the ruling on damaging an electric bell, then lying to the teacher and deceiving the seller about its defect to return it, and what should be done about that?

You have erred by tampering with another's property and by lying. You must repent to Allah Almighty and inform the shop owner of the truth. If he forgives you, you are absolved; otherwise, you must pay the value of the bell you damaged.
