What is the ruling on someone who says, "I am a communist," without realizing its implications?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The word holds great significance in Islam, for by it, a servant may rise or fall. Allah Almighty says: (He does not utter any word except that with him is an observer, ever-present). Communism is an atheistic doctrine based on denying the existence of God and considers religion a plague and an opiate for the masses. This doctrine is one of the most dangerous doctrines of disbelief, and it is obligatory for anyone who knows about it to disbelieve in it and disassociate themselves from it before Allah. So, whoever affiliates with it while knowing its deviance, he is a disbeliever. As for one who is ignorant of the doctrine's true nature or was deceived by its propaganda, it is obligatory to inform them of its danger and that Islam is sufficient and superior to any other doctrine. Those who were deceived should be dealt with gently and through dialogue to explain the proofs of the Sharia. And whoever persists in their stance after the explanation is a disbeliever and an apostate.
