What is the text and interpretation of the Prophetic Hadith that refers to the division of the Ummah into seventy-three sects, and that only one sect will enter Paradise, and which sect is that?

It is stated in an authentic Hadith that the Ummah will split into seventy-three sects, all of which will be in the Hellfire except one, which is the Jama‘ah (the community), or those who are upon what I and my Companions are upon. Scholars have mentioned several opinions in identifying the saved sect, the summary of which is that it refers to two matters: the community of creed and methodology that adheres to the fundamentals of religion as practiced by the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Companions, and the Jama‘ah in the specific sense, which adheres to an Imam who is in accordance with the Shari‘ah. The dispraised sect in the Hadith is that which opposes the people of truth in the fundamentals of Tawhid (monotheism), the conditions of prophethood, and loyalty to the Companions, and not in matters of jurisprudential branches.
