How can a menstruating woman perform Istikhara?

It is permissible for a menstruating woman, if she wishes to perform Istikhara (guidance-seeking prayer), to recite the Istikhara supplication without performing the prayer. Even if prayer is not possible, performing Istikhara through supplication is permissible. This is the view of An-Nawawi and Ibn Baz. While performing Istikhara with prayer is better, it is not a condition. So, if she is menstruating or the matter is urgent, it is permissible to perform Istikhara by supplication only.
