There is no objection to a young man proposing to you via the Internet, but he is not permitted to marry you except with the permission of your guardian and the presence of witnesses. Agency in marriage is permissible when there is a need, such as inability to be present. It should be noted that marriages based on online acquaintance often end in failure, due to each party not truly knowing the other. Therefore, one should not be deceived by apparent religiousness and good character until after knowing those who have interacted with him and known him closely.
