What is the meaning of "فِيمَا نَسْتَقْبِلُ" (in what we will encounter/in the future), and what is the difference between "مَا جَفَّتْ بِهِ الْأَقْلَامُ" (what the pens have dried upon) and "مَا جَرَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ" (what the decrees have transpired upon)?

The meaning of "نستقبل" (nastaqbil) in the Hadith is "we resume it from the nights and days," and "جفت به الأقلام" (jaffat bihi al-aqlām) means that the pens have finished writing it in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfūẓ), and "جرت به المقادير" (jarat bihi al-maqādīr) means that it has come to pass in accordance with what Allah has decreed. Divine preordainment (Al-Qadar) is Allah's secret among His creation, and delving deeply into it is a waste of time and a labyrinth for the mind. Allah the Almighty has indeed withheld the knowledge of Al-Qadar from His creation and forbidden them from engaging in it, as He says: "He is not questioned concerning what He does, but they will be questioned."
