Does divorce take effect due to baseless whispers and suspicions?

Whoever pronounces the divorce of his wife explicitly, while sane and of his own free will, her divorce takes effect. He may take her back as long as it is not the third divorce. As for the one afflicted with obsessive whispers (waswas) to the point of losing consciousness, he is considered in the same ruling as an insane person, and divorce is not binding upon him. However, for one who has not reached this degree, what he utters is binding upon him. So, if you are of the first type, your wife remains married to you. But if you are of the second type and you pronounced a divorce, then a divorce has taken place. It is advisable to consult scholars to present the matter to them.
