Is it permissible for a young man to buy an apartment through an interest-based installment system due to financial hardship and the unavailability of an alternative, with the intention of expediting the repayment of the interest-based debt?

It is not permissible to engage in a usurious transaction except out of a recognized legitimate necessity. A young person's need for housing is not considered a necessity because it can be met through renting or through legitimate alternatives such as tawarruq, murabahah, or musawamah. Furthermore, the intention to expedite repayment does not permit entering into a forbidden usurious contract. Usury is one of the gravest sins, for which Allah has threatened war against its perpetrator. The Prophet, peace be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses. Necessity is a situation in which there is a fear of severe harm to one's self, limb, honor, mind, or wealth, and it entails the permissibility of committing a forbidden act or neglecting an obligation. As for purchasing luxuries or building a house, these are not considered necessities that permit borrowing with usury.
