Is it permissible for a congregant to interrupt his prayer to join another congregation if he only caught the last tashahhud with the first congregation?

Scholars have differed regarding the attainment of the virtue of congregational prayer (jama'ah). The majority opinion is that it is attained as long as the Imam has not said the taslim (definition), even if the worshipper (ma'mum) has not yet sat down. So, whoever says the takbir before the first taslim (of the Imam) has attained it. The Malikis, however, are of the view that the virtue of congregational prayer is only achieved by performing a complete rak'ah with the Imam. Based on this disagreement, the issue of interrupting a prayer to catch another congregation differs. Those who hold that the virtue is attained by any part of the prayer prohibit interruption, while those who hold that it is only achieved with a rak'ah permit interruption. The opinion of the majority is closer to correctness.
