Whoever debates the People of the Book should possess a sufficient level of knowledge to clarify the truth, refute misconceptions, and defend the Messenger, Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, and his Companions, which is an obligation. The fundamental principle in debating the People of the Book is to do so in the best manner, except for those among them who commit injustice. If one of them slanders the Messenger, Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, then a response is immediately incumbent upon us.
