There is no Shar'i (Islamic legal) impediment to a Muslim captive marrying in Dar al-Islam (the Abode of Islam), provided that the conditions of marriage are met, the woman and her guardians are aware of his situation and consent, and he has the means to spend on her or she forgives him. This differs from a captive in Dar al-Harb (the Abode of War), where marriage is discouraged for fear of the disbelievers enslaving his child. It is permissible for the captive to have sexual intercourse with his wife in Dar al-Islam if they can meet in a secluded place, and this is more permissible than for a captive in Dar al-Harb.
