Is it permissible to have sexual intercourse with a female prisoner of war without marrying her?

A man is only permitted to have relations with women who are his wife or his slave-woman (amah). The wife becomes permissible after a legitimate marriage, and the slave-woman becomes permissible through ownership (milk al-yamin). She is acquired from spoils of war, and can be obtained by participating in jihad or by purchasing her. A slave-woman becomes permissible immediately upon ownership, after ensuring she is not pregnant by waiting for one menstrual cycle, or until she gives birth if she is pregnant, as Allah Almighty says: (And those who guard their private parts Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed). Islam has permitted a man to have intercourse with his slave-woman whether he is married or not. Spoils of war are distributed by the ruler.
