Is it permissible for a wife to seek divorce from a righteous husband if she persistently dreams of the person she once loved after performing Istikhara, and she constantly feels distressed and uncomfortable towards her husband, despite the attempts of his family and hers to reconcile them, especially after she became pregnant by him and refused to live with him, while he refuses to divorce her except for a legitimate reason and tells her that the scent of Paradise is forbidden to her?

It is not permissible for a girl to refuse to share her husband's bed or to generally disobey her husband in matters that do not contradict Islamic law. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses, and he spends the night angry with her, the angels will curse her until morning."

If the husband is a man of faith and good character, it is better to accept the reality, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And perhaps you dislike a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not."

If that is not possible, there is no religious impediment for her to seek a divorce from him in exchange for a payment made by the wife to him, which is known as Khul'.
