Is the saying "Wealth is not accumulated except through avarice or unlawful means" correct?

If the intention behind this phrase is that accumulating wealth always contradicts generosity, then it is incorrect and goes against reality. Many Muslims have accumulated wealth through lawful means and spent it generously, such as 'Uthman ibn 'Affan, Al-Zubayr ibn Al-'Awwam, and 'Abd Al-Rahman ibn 'Awf.
