The answer

The Duha prayer is supererogatory. Its minimum is two rak'ahs, based on the hadith: "And sufficient for that are two rak'ahs performed in Duha." Its maximum is eight rak'ahs, based on the Prophet's action on the day of the conquest of Mecca. The best practice, if the prayer exceeds two rak'ahs, is for the worshipper to make the tasleem after every two rak'ahs, based on the Prophet's saying: "The prayer of the night and day is two by two." Its time is from when the sun has risen to the height of a spear until the time of zawal (midday).
