Is there anything in Islamic law that supports one of the two proposed methods of apology (either apologizing in one sitting before the aggrieved party, his group, and the five students, or apologizing only before the five students and then apologizing to each individual from the aggrieved party and his group separately), such that one of the parties can be compelled to accept it?

Satan is an enemy to man and seeks to sow discord among believers. He has despaired of being worshipped in the Arabian Peninsula, but he strives to incite animosity among them. It is impermissible for a Muslim to forsake his brother for more than three days, and the better of them is the one who initiates the greeting of peace. Those who are in dispute should cease insisting on their positions, in obedience to Allah and disobedience to Satan. Let them know that an apology brings no benefit to the aggrieved party nor harm to the aggressor; rather, it is an instigation from Satan to prevent harmony. The one who is quicker to fulfill the request of his opponent will receive greater reward, for in that lies the mending of rifts and the cutting off of animosity.
