What is the solution to convince parents to agree to their daughter marrying a young man who proposed to her, whom they rejected without a convincing reason, despite the daughter's agreement with him and their intellectual compatibility, and their threat to expel her from the home and disown her if she insists on marrying him?

One should be diligent in supplicating to Allah, for He is the best to be asked and the best to respond. If the parents reject the suitor merely because he is not from their group, this is an error, for the wise Shari'ah guides to accepting one who possesses faith and good character. If the parents insist on their refusal, the girl has the right to refer the matter to the Shari'ah judge, who will marry her off if it is proven that her guardian is preventing her from marriage. Alternatively, she can be patient out of dutifulness to her parents. However, self-harm is impermissible.
