ما هي سنة الجمعة البعدية وما كيفيتها؟

The post-Jumu'ah Sunnah prayer has been mentioned as two rak'ahs, as in the Sahihayn (Bukhari and Muslim) from the Hadith of Ibn Umar, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to pray two rak'ahs in his house. It has also been reported that it is four rak'ahs, as in Sahih Muslim from the Hadith of Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever among you is to pray after Jumu'ah, let him pray four [rak'ahs]." Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah reconciled between the two hadiths by stating that "whoever prays in the mosque prays four [rak'ahs], and if he prays in his house, he prays two [rak'ahs]."
