What is the ruling on my prayers and my recitation of the Quran in the past, when I did not know that touching the penis invalidates ablution?
Touching the penis without a barrier invalidates ablution (wudu) according to the majority of jurists, who cite the "Whoever touches his penis should perform ablution," and others. According to them, there is no difference between the palm and the back of the hand (contrary to Malik and Al-Shafi'i). Based on the opinion of the majority, every prayer performed with an ablution invalidated in this manner is considered invalid and must be repeated, estimating the number as a precaution if it is unknown. There is no sin on the ignorant unless they were negligent in learning. According to the school of Abu Hanifa, touching the penis does not invalidate ablution, and the prayer is valid. It is more cautious to follow the opinion of the majority.
