Is the son obligated to return the stolen money to his father if the father forgave him and did not demand the money?

Theft is a crime and a betrayal, and it is even uglier when committed by a child against his father's property. The thief must repent to Allah and return the stolen item to its owner, for Allah the Almighty says: "But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and makes amends, Allah will accept his repentance. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." And for the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "The hand is responsible for what it takes until it returns it." If the owner of the property forgives the thief, then his conscience is cleared.
