Is it permissible to use the internet for beneficial and purposeful matters, despite its use for prohibited matters?

There is no objection to using technology to seek knowledge, watch news, and conduct research, provided that one strives earnestly to repent from viewing forbidden things. However, if it becomes necessary to dispose of technology and its tools to avoid falling into the forbidden, then that becomes obligatory.
