Is it permissible to sell land, given that the land belongs to Allah? So how can we sell it?

Whoever owns land through a legitimate right may sell it and dispose of it. As for the statement that the earth belongs to Allah, this is true, for all that is in people's hands truly belongs to Allah, and they are merely vicegerents therein, disposing of it in accordance with the Sharia; as Allah Almighty said: "Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend from that over which He has made you successors." (Al-Hadid: 7). The attribution of things to Allah occurs in two ways: either because He created them, or because He distinguished them with a meaning that He loves and is pleased with.
