The question

Is a woman entitled to claim 100,0 Saudi Riyals (60,0 for psychological damage and 40,0 for the costs of the marriage contract ceremony) after her divorce and before consummation, given that the judge ruled she was not entitled to a Mahr or deferred Mahr, and she was obligated to observe the 'iddah?

The answer

Disobeying one's parents, especially the mother, is a grave sin, and one must repent from it and seek their forgiveness. As for divorce, if it is a judicial ruling in accordance with Islamic law, there is no objection to it. A valid seclusion ( sahiha) entails the wife's right to the full mahr (dowry) and maintenance from the time of seclusion until the end of her ' (waiting period). She does not have the right to claim compensation for moral damage. As for the costs of the marriage contract ceremony and similar expenses, they are incumbent upon the husband if they were stipulated to him or if custom dictates it. The resolution of such disputed matters rests with the Islamic judge.
