The answer

Usury (Riba) is forbidden by the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and the consensus of the Ummah. Working in usurious banks is therefore forbidden. One must leave work in a usurious bank and repent from cooperating in usury, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, its payer, its scribe, and its two witnesses, and he said: 'They are all equal (in sin).'" And Allah Almighty says: "And cooperate not in sin and aggression." One must seek lawful sustenance, for whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect. It is not permissible to continue in this work except out of an extreme necessity that permits the eating of carrion. In this case, the employee should remain until he finds an alternative job with a salary sufficient for his essential needs, then he must leave the work immediately.
