Is it permissible for a woman to sponsor an orphan if her husband covers the expenses?
Sponsoring an orphan is one of the greatest acts of nearness (to Allah), as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I and the sponsor of an orphan, whether his own or another's, will be like these two in Paradise," (and he gestured with his index and middle fingers). You are considered a sponsor of an orphan even if your husband pays the sponsorship on your behalf, whether the money is yours or his. If your intention behind the sponsorship is to guide your husband to do good, then you will receive a reward similar to his, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever guides to good will have a reward similar to that of its doer."
