Is the statement "Your daughter is divorced by three" considered an irrevocable divorce, and does verbal reconciliation after the waiting period expires nullify it, or is a new marriage contract required?

Most scholars hold that a triple divorce pronounced at once counts as three divorces, and the wife becomes irrevocably divorced (baynunah kubra). She does not become lawful for him again until she marries another man willingly, he consummates the marriage with her, then he divorces her, and her waiting period (iddah) expires.

However, according to the view of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and those who agree with him, such a divorce counts as a single divorce. If the husband has not previously divorced his wife, he may revoke the divorce as long as she is still within her waiting period. The revocation can be achieved through explicit words or through an implicit statement accompanied by the intention of revocation. The wife's or her father's consent is not required.

If the husband does not revoke the divorce until her waiting period expires, she becomes irrevocably separated from him, and he cannot take her back except with a new marriage contract. It is advisable to present these matters to a Sharia court or trusted scholars.
