What is revelation?

Revelation, linguistically: is a sign, writing, message, inspiration, hidden speech, and anything you convey to another. It is the swift, hidden communication specific to the one it is directed to.

Legally (in Islamic terminology): it is the instruction emanating from God to the Prophets.

It is of two types:

1. Instruction through an angel, which has several forms: Seeing the angel in his true form (rare). Seeing the angel in the form of a human. Not seeing the angel, but hearing a resounding clang that causes the Prophet to experience an unusual spiritual state.

2. Direct instruction without an angelic intermediary, which can be: Through inspiration (the casting of meaning into the soul). Through speech from behind a veil.

Both types can occur while awake or in a dream (a righteous vision).
