Is it possible to know the state of the deceased, and are there any supplications or prescriptions for a noble death?

Whoever desires a noble death should adhere to the religion outwardly and inwardly, and frequently ask Allah for it, following the example of the prophets and the righteous. As for the state of the deceased in the Barzakh (interim period between death and resurrection), it cannot be known except through revelation. One should pray for them for mercy and forgiveness and give charity on their behalf.
