The financial rights of a wife upon her husband if he divorces her are summarized as follows:

1. Consolatory Gift (Mut'ah): A sum of money paid by the husband to her according to his means, based on the Almighty's saying: (And provide for them, he who has abundance according to his means, and he who is restricted according to his means, a provision of kindness; a duty upon the doers of good), and His saying: (And for divorced women is a provision of kindness - a duty upon the righteous).

2. Deferred Dowry (Mu'akhkhar Al-Sadaq): If it exists, because it is a debt owed to her by him.

3. Maintenance (Nafaqah) and Housing during the Waiting Period ('Iddah): If the divorce is revocable (raj'i), or if she is pregnant until she gives birth, based on the Almighty's saying: (House them where you reside, out of your means, and do not harm them to make life difficult for them. And if they are pregnant, spend on them until they deliver their burden).

4. Nursing Wage: If she breastfeeds the husband's children, based on the Almighty's saying: (And if they breastfeed for you, give them their due payment).

If the divorce is requested by the wife without any harm [from the husband], then the husband may stipulate the waiver of all or some of these rights as a khul' (divorce by mutual agreement, initiated by the wife).
