Is it permissible to wipe over the khuff (leather sock) if it has been lowered slightly while one is not in a state of ablution, or if it has been pulled down without exposing the ankle?

It is understood from the question that if someone wears a khuff (leather sock) while in a state of ṭahārah (ritual purity), and then their purity is broken while they remain in an impure state, and they then lower their khuff revealing their ankle. In this situation, it is not permissible to wipe over it afterwards, because removing the khuff or exposing part of the foot invalidates the wiping, as stated by the scholars. Al-Buhūti al-Ḥanbali mentioned that exposing part of the foot from the khuff invalidates the wiping and necessitates renewing the ṭahārah. Likewise, Ibn ʿUthaymīn explained that removing the khuff invalidates the wiping over it, citing the hadith of Ṣafwān ibn ʿAssāl, and that whoever removes their khuff should not wipe over it again until they perform a complete ablution washing their feet.
