Is publishing videos of feeding the poor considered showing off (riya') if the intention is to gain financial support for continuity, while concealing faces and altering voices, and do you advise publishing them or not?

The original principle is that concealing charity and good deeds is better than publicizing them, unless there is an overriding legitimate benefit in publicizing them, and the person is secure from showing off (riya'). In such a case, publicizing becomes better, like someone who does so to draw attention to good and encourage others to emulate it, as stated in the Almighty's saying: "If you publicize your charities, it is well; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you."

Accordingly, if it is highly probable that photographing what is given to the poor will bring more support and increase the number of beneficiaries, then there is no harm in that. The matter does not turn into showing off as long as the intention is purely for Allah.

What was mentioned about concealing the image and modifying the voice helps in avoiding showing off, but it is not sufficient if the intention is not sincere, along with avoiding legitimate prohibitions such as displaying those in need in a humiliating manner. However, if it is highly probable that the matter will turn into showing off and seeking reputation, then one should perform the deed without publicizing it, and seek support through other means from which showing off is not feared, as showing off is among the acts that invalidate deeds, as stated in the Hadith Qudsi: "I am the most self-sufficient of partners from shirk (associating others with Me). Whoever performs an action in which he associates another with Me, I abandon him and his shirk."
