Is it permissible to marry a non-Muslim woman who has a religious background of idol worship? Is her effort to invite her to Islam sound, and should she also invite her family to the religion given that they are idolaters? Is it a wise decision to reside with her in her country for work and marriage, especially since the financial circumstances in Muslim countries do not allow him to marry or find work, and he fears falling into temptations?

Acquaintance and correspondence between foreign men and women without a valid need is a door to fitna (temptation, discord) and corruption. It is not permissible for a Muslim man to marry a non-Scriptural disbeliever, as Allah Almighty says: {And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe} [Al-Baqarah 2:221], and {and do not hold on to the marriage bonds of disbelieving women} [Al-Mumtahanah 60:10]. This emotional relationship must be severed, and one should seek a Muslim woman of religion and good character for marriage. Inviting the woman and her family to Islam is among the best deeds, but the da'wah (invitation) must be through legitimate means and with a sincere intention. If the woman embraces Islam, then it is permissible to marry her and permissible to reside in her country, provided that the rituals of the religion are openly observed and there is security from fitna. Whoever fears Allah and relies on Him, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.
