Is it permissible for a child aged one and a half or four years to hold the Noble Qur’an with the intention of accustoming them to loving reading?

If a child has not reached the age of discernment, then it is not permissible to allow him to touch the Mus'haf, for fear that he might tamper with it or treat it disrespectfully. However, if he has reached the age of discernment, then it is permissible for him to touch the Mus'haf for reading and learning, provided that he does not touch it with a garment or a limb that is impure. A Muslim must raise his children to love the Book of Allah, to revere it, to learn from it, and to act upon it, so that they may be righteous and pray for their parents after death; as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When the son of Adam dies, his deeds cease except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge from which benefit is derived, or a righteous child who prays for him."
