Is it permissible to use contraceptive patches?

Birth control patches contain two hormones and work like birth control pills by preventing ovulation. They are placed on the body in inconspicuous areas. It is permissible to use them when contraception is permissible. They must be removed during ritual purification (tahara shar'iyyah) if they prevent water from reaching the skin, because one of the conditions for the validity of purification is to cover the limb or body completely with water.
