What is the ruling on splashing water on the face during ablution, and is this among its manners?

Washing the face is an obligatory act upon which there is scholarly consensus. It is recommended to wash the face with both hands simultaneously, starting from the top and moving downwards, and to pass the hands with water over the face to ensure that all that must be washed is covered. It is not a condition to splash or slap the face with water, though this would suffice if the water reaches the entire face.
