What is the ruling on a beardless man leading the prayer if he is more knowledgeable than a bearded man, and does the same ruling apply to someone who wears pants and a tie?

The majority of scholars hold that the most knowledgeable person has a greater right to lead the prayer (Imamah) than the best reciter. However, the Hanbalis maintain that the best reciter has precedence. If the most knowledgeable person is a transgressor (fasiq), the majority of scholars deem it disliked to pray behind him, whereas the Hanbalis and a view within the Maliki school consider it impermissible. A fasiq is someone who commits a major sin or consistently commits minor sins. Shaving the beard is considered unlawful (a minor sin) by the majority of scholars and disliked by the Shafi'is. Accordingly, someone who consistently shaves his beard is a fasiq, and praying behind him is disliked according to the majority of scholars, and impermissible according to the Hanbalis. Therefore, an Imam who does not shave his beard has a greater right to lead the prayer than a more knowledgeable Imam who shaves his beard. As for wearing trousers and ties, it is not unlawful.
