The answer

It is permissible for a husband to pay the of his wealth to his wife's orphaned children, because he is not obligated to financially support them, provided that they are among the categories eligible to receive zakat (such as the poor or the needy), and that he intends it as zakat at the time of payment, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, actions are by intentions."
