ما هي خوارم المروءة؟

The criterion for things that compromise integrity (khawārim al-murū'ah) is anything that leads to theuring censure upon its doer in the eyes of their society or the Sharī'ah. This varies according to different societies. Thus, anything that contradicts the definition of integrity or leads to censure upon its doer is considered among the things that compromise it. As Ibn 'Asim said: "And that which is permissible, yet in plain sight / Impeaches a person's integrity." And the author of Al-Kafaf said: "And it is his avoidance of the causes of his censure / In action and in ترك, in the way of his people."
