Lying is forbidden by Islamic law and is one of the major sins, as well as a sign of hypocrites. However, Islamic law permits the use of allusions (ma'areedh) to obscure the truth, such as saying words that parents understand one way, while intending another meaning.
If there is nothing forbidden in the outing, then the parents have no right to object to their son going, and he is not obliged to obey them in this matter. The son should be gentle with them and try to conceal the truth from them using allusions. However, if the outing involves something forbidden by Islamic law, then he is not permitted to go.
