What is the ruling on standing for someone entering and kissing him?

It was not the custom of the Salaf to stand up upon seeing the Prophet (peace be upon him) because he disliked it, unless the person arriving was from a journey. It is recommended to stand up for an arriving person if it is customary for people to honor him by standing, otherwise, it would be considered neglecting his right. This standing is not the forbidden one; the forbidden standing is standing for someone who is seated. As for kissing, it is permissible if it is out of compassion and mercy. However, kissing upon an ordinary meeting has not been proven to be legislated, and handshaking suffices, unless the arriving person is from a journey, in which case embracing is legislated.
