Is the distribution of money to the poor considered an aqiqah on behalf of the woman?

Giving charity with money does not substitute for the 'aqiqah (definition). The Shaykh's action has two scenarios: Either he claims that he was authorized to give the money to the poor, while she claims the 'aqiqah was intended, in which case his word is to be accepted. Or he admits to being authorized for the 'aqiqah, not to give money, in which case he guarantees the money if the woman is not pleased with his action, because he acted without her permission. If the woman approves the charity, she will have its reward, but it will not be considered an 'aqiqah.
