What is the religious ruling, and what is the method for a wife to obtain a divorce from her husband who drinks alcohol, curses, commits adultery, and refuses to divorce her out of vengeance, especially since she has not had marital relations with him for three months?

If a husband drinks alcohol, commits adultery, and uses foul language, he is in grave danger. It is advised to first attempt to counsel him and help him repent. If that does not work, then it is permissible to seek a divorce due to his transgression and depravity; in fact, separation from him is commendable. If the husband refuses divorce or khul‘ (a type of divorce initiated by the wife), the matter can be taken to the Sharia judge to compel him to do so.
