Is it permissible to buy a magazine that contains valuable prizes such as a computer or a car?

Gifts and prizes are permissible if they are for encouraging beneficial knowledge or righteous deeds. As for commercial gifts and prizes, they come in several forms:

- Buying a coupon for a sum of money to enter a draw is unlawful and is a form of gambling (maysir).

- Buying a product and receiving a coupon to enter a draw for it is a matter of scholarly disagreement, with the preponderant opinion being permissibility, especially if the buyer's sole intention was the product itself.

- Buying a product and receiving a gift without a draw is permissible.

Based on this, if the magazine sells draw coupons for a separate price or as part of the magazine's price, it is forbidden gambling. However, if the coupons are free, there is no objection.
