When, where, and how are fear and hope realized in the life of a Muslim? And which of them is more deserving of precedence?

Fear and hope make worship encompass all aspects of life, and worship is a comprehensive term for all that Allah loves and approves, including apparent and hidden sayings and actions. The realization of fear and hope begins with knowledge, which then yields a state of being and subsequently action. Hope is the heart's comfort in anticipating what is beloved; it is rejoicing in Allah's generosity and grace, and it is accompanied by effort and good reliance on Allah. Fear is the heart's pain and burning due to the expectation of something disliked. For the believer, fear and hope are like the two wings of a bird, with which he journeys to his Lord in balance.
