Is it permissible for the aspect of hope to outweigh the aspect of fear in the worship of Allah, even with the presence of fear, especially when loving Allah's name "The Most Merciful"?
The accountable person must worship Allah with love, fear, and hope all together. Whoever worships Allah with love alone has become a heretic. Whoever worships Him with fear alone is like the Khawarij. And whoever worships Him with hope alone has fallen into the innovation of Irja'.
Allah the Almighty has praised those who fear Him, for Allah does not combine two fears or two securities for His servant. Fear and hope are two remedies for the hearts; their merit depends on the existing ailment. If the heart is predominantly secure from Allah's cunning or inclined to sin, then fear is better. If despair and hopelessness prevail, then hope is better. The commendable fear is that which incites action and stirs the heart from inclining towards worldly life.
However, at the onset of death, hope is more beneficial for a person.
