How is the estate of a man, estimated at 500 pounds, to be divided, given that he passed away leaving behind: a full sister, a paternal half-sister, a maternal half-sister, a son of a paternal half-brother, a son of a maternal half-brother, a paternal uncle, and a paternal cousin?

To determine how the inheritance is to be divided, the heirs must be accurately enumerated.

Assuming that the deceased left only those mentioned, then: 1. The full sister receives one-half by fard (fixed share); based on the verse of al-kalalah in the Quran: "They ask you for a ruling. Say, 'Allah gives you a ruling concerning kalalah: If a man dies, and he has no child, but has a sister, then she receives half of what he leaves.'" 2. The paternal sister receives one-sixth to complete two-thirds, similar to the daughter of a son with a daughter. 3. The maternal sister receives one-sixth by fard; based on Allah's saying concerning the share of one of the maternal siblings: "... and if he has a brother or a sister, then for each of them is one-sixth." 4. The remainder goes to the paternal nephew by ta'sib (residuary heir); based on the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Give the fixed shares to their rightful recipients, and whatever remains is for the closest male heir." 5. The paternal uncle and paternal cousin receive nothing, as they are excluded by the nephew. The maternal nephew receives nothing, as he is not an heir at all.

Accordingly, the inheritance is divided into six shares: - The full sister receives one-half: three shares. - The paternal sister receives one-sixth: one share. - The maternal sister receives one-sixth: one share. - The paternal nephew receives the remainder: one share.
