The answer to the Muezzin is a according to the majority of scholars, and obligatory according to the Hanafis, Zahiris, and some Malikis. It is recommended to say what the Muezzin says, then to send blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then to ask Allah for him the Wasilah (means of proximity), and then to perform the Sunnah prayer. It is better not to begin the prayer during the , but if one does, there is no sin. It is permissible to advise the Muezzin not to prolong the Adhan.
